Warden Information

This Information about Turkey is provided to inform residents and visitors to Turkey of potential security concerns by the Regional Security Office, U.S. Embassy, Ankara. In times of international tension, we suggest you consult this home page.

Overseas Security Advisory Council (OSAC) Publications

OSAC continually promotes the exchange of information on developments in all aspects of security and recommends methods for planning and implementing security programs abroad. To achieve these objectives, OSAC established committees to address issues such as emergency preparedness, physical security, and protection of proprietary information.

OSAC committees have produced several publications to be used as guidelines by the American private sector living and operating abroad.

Additional Information on Security Matters can be obtained by consulting the following sites maintained by the Department of State.

Voice of America (VOA) broadcasts are also sources of reliable information from the U.S. Government.

  • VOA Turkish Service broadcasts a one-hour airshow every day, between 21:00-22:00 Turkish local time (GMT+2), on MW and SW -- 379 m 792 KHz; 25 m 11855 KHz, 42 m 7205 KHz, 49 m 6160 KHz. In addition, VOA Turkish prepares a 15-minute news program, aired on affiliate stations, Monday through Friday at 17:45-18:00 Turkish local time. VOA Turkish program features a world news bulletin followed by a news-related segment with correspondent reports, backgrounders and U.S. and world press round-ups. "Voice FM 92.8" in Istanbul; "First-FM 90 and 107.3" in northern Cyprus; "Radyo Net FM 92.4" in Ankara. (These stations simulcast all or part of the VOA Turkish broadcasts.)
