Student Leaders Offer Video Highlights of Their Experiences
The 2008 Study of the U.S. Institute for Student Leaders was an intensive academic summer program for 20 student leaders from across Turkey. The participants were highly-motivated undergraduate students who had demonstrated leadership through academic work, community involvement, and extracurricular activities. The purpose of the Institute was to provide the students with a deeper understanding of the United States, while simultaneously enhancing their leadership skills. A total of seven Institutes took place concurrently across the U.S. and included students from around the world. While the other Institutes combined students from several countries, the program for student leaders from Turkey was designed specifically for them.
The six-week Institute for Turkish student leaders was held at a small university in New York. At the end of the program, the Turkish students joined the approximately 120 other Institute participants in Washington for a concluding three-day program. During this Washington gathering, each student group shared its experiences with the others. In preparation for the meeting, the Turkish student leaders produced this video highlighting their experiences:
